DESCRIPTION:Conférence gratuite organisée par la librairie LA PRÉFACE \nÉmilie du Châtelet (1706-1749) est connue pour sa relation amoureuse et intellectuelle avec Voltaire. Cet aspect de sa vie occulte qu’elle fut en son temps une des premières femmes scientifiques de stature internationale en physique et mathématique\, publiant dès 1740 Institutions de Physique. Fréquentant des physiciens et mathématiciens comme Moreau de Maupertuis\, Alexis Claude Clairaut ou Buffon\, sa grande œuvre sera la traduction commentée en français du texte latin des Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica de Newton\, qui jouera un rôle important dans la diffusion du newtonisme en France.
